Cigar Review - Cusano 18 Robusto

I'm launching a new feature on my blog to share my love and passion for Cigars with anyone who will listen.  Today, I begin by reviewing a wonderful cigar that deserves it's praise.  Today's choice is the Cusano 18 by Cusano Cigars of Florida. 

Size Smoked:  Robusto (5x50)
Body: Mild to Medium.
I'd probably lean toward mild on this one.  I'm typically not a fan of the milds since they sometimes lack the depth of flavor and complexity that I'm after.  However this one is PACKED with goodness.  After this flavor tube was well lit...I sat back in my smoking chair to take in the vanilla creaminess and deep caramel notes.  The burn was ultra smooth and VERY even representing the wonderful construction of this cigar.

Cusano explains how this cigar is made on its website, "Cusano 18's filler is comprised of Dominican Oro (gold) which has been aging since it was harvested eighteen years ago in 1985. To highlight the extrodinairy flavors of this rare filler, we have chosen both a rich Cuban Piloto and a mouth-watering Olor from the San Vicente, region of the Dominican Republic. A Connecticut Shade leaf is then used as the binder which complements the 18's complex filler blend. To finish the composition, we selected a second medium-tone, very flavorful Connecticut Shade wrapper which further amplifies the 18's already rich, creamy flavor."

Wow.  18 years (thus the name). Time did well for this filler.  Additionally, I paired up the Cigar with a few different drinks.  I think this worked best for me with The Balvenie.  Not the smoothest dram in my opinion...but the punch of the scotch worked well with the smoothness to balance out on the palate.
